Flying this morning 28-Apr-2017

Those in attendance at Elkins Field were treated to the flights of several new airplanes, as well as those of the veteran planes that fly so well.

Ron Hipp brought a new Dynam Waco bipe that performed flawlessly and looked very realistic in the air—although it is still in search of a pilot figure to fill at least one of the cockpits.

Dan Nicar brought his new Radian XL that is just plain impressive—both because of its size and its glide ratio. He also brought a swap meet H9 Stick he got in OKC that is a good one!

Tom Regan’s twin cylinder Saito swap meet plane let its presence be known ever time he fired it up and cleared the cylinders before take-off.

My newly finished Ace 4-60 got into the air, with Paul coaching it through its first flight, and then on to me for the subsequent flights. This pleasant routine was rudely interrupted as I was starting it for its fourth flight and my left hand carelessly challenged the prop for its air space. The challenge ended abruptly, followed by a trip to the emergency room and a dozen or so stitches to my left thumb and two fingers—but the plane flew well!

Overlooking my carelessness and stupidity—it was a fine spring day for flying! Attached are a few shots of the newer planes.
