Wingz-n-Dawgz Leftovers

We had a nice turn-out to use up the food overage from “Wingz-n-Dawgz”.  In addition to eating some great hamburgers and dogs, there was some fine flying that took place under ideal weather conditions. Thanks to Bob McFadden for not only engineering the whole thing, but serving as the chief cook and bottle washer.... Read More

LAFFS FLIGHT REPORT- WINGZ ‘N’ DAWGZ- 15 AUG 2015

Remember the classic song, “At Last” by Etta James. Well, this was an “At Last” kind of day. We had the Wingz ‘n’ Dawgz flying event at last. After 3 years of trying to do Wingz ‘n’ Dawgz and getting weathered out each time, this time was near perfect. Wind was about 8 SE and the temperature was in the 80s until noon. We had a great turnout, including a pilot from Clinton and several spectator visitors. Besides our shed for cover, Ray Cox had donated to LAFFS, a 10 x 10 pop up tent that we erected alongside the shed giving us plenty of shade. This was perfect. We had room to spread out and everyone could find comfortable shade. A big thanks to Ray for his generous donation. Bob McFadden efficiently hosted the day and held the pilot’s briefing at 0900 sharp, explaining the challenging rules of the Okie Bowling, the 3-RLS event, and the F-22 mass launch.... Read More

LAFFS Flight Report- 28 June 2015

It was another great day of flying and fellowship at Elkins Field in Lawton. Wind was about 6 to 10 mph out of the SW, being a pretty significant crosswind, but no one seemed to mind.  Some members were there early and we were all done about noon. There were no crashes that I saw, so it was an especially good day. Some pictures from the morning are attached.... Read More

LAFFS Flight Report- Sunday, 17 August 2014

Well, this isn’t going to be much of a flight report because I got there late, about 10:00, and missed the earlier action. I saw Ron fly The Beast and Paul flew Miguel’s very nice foam P-51 which Paul said was a little handful. Miguel flew his Cessna, which was real nice in the air. His lady even joined us to watch and we found out she has some interest in learning to flly. Gene was there helping with wisdom and enjoying the day. Mike was there, too, but I got there too late to see if he put on an airshow. There were a couple of other guys there earlier, but I’m not sure who they were.... Read More

LAFFS FLIGHT REPORT-21 JUNE 2014

The boring part is that there were about a dozen of us out to fly this morning into 8 mph winds nearly down the runway. Lots of the same old stuff- flying, laughter, bursts of pure joy, kind of a “sittin on the dock of the bay” day (Otis Redding,1967). You know, just a great day with great friends.... Read More

Saturday flying video

Didn’t get too much footage today, but we did get one short piece from Clem’s Phoenix Telemaster flight today. I put the camera on the bottom of the fuselage towards back down towards the tail. It got some interesting video. But unfortunately it made the plane a little too tail heavy for Clem’s liking, so he landed after just a couple of passes down the runway. But what we did get is some good video. Check it out here.... Read More
